It is June 30th, 2021 and this heat is a killer. Right now it is 97º and the UV rays are 9.5 in New Jersey. In Miami, the UV rays are 11.1 dangerously high enough to burn in possibly under 10 mins.
The heat is causing power outages during the day, baseball players are throwing up on the field from the heat exhaustion, people are avoiding day trips to the beach and this morning, my Amazon Alexa device even felt the need to warn me about the heat with a notification.
With this insane weather, It is so hot and we need to understand how important proper hydration is and take extra precautions to stay safe, healthy, and hydrated.
Drinking enough water to stay hydrated each day is crucial for many reasons. Harvard School of public health says that water regulates your body temperature, keeps your joints lubricated, it delivers nutrients to your cells, prevents infections in your body, and keeps your organs functioning properly. Being well-hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition, and maintaining a balanced mood.
Water aids in digestion after each meal, by breaking down the food so your body can absorb the nutrients. Drinking more water can flush out the toxins in your body and leave you with clear skin. It can aid in weight loss, prevent/treat headaches, affects brain function and energy levels and so much more.
Although it is not true, I always say that water is the cure for everything. When 60% of your body is water it is important to have proper hydration so your body functions right.
"Experts recommend drinking roughly 11 cups of water per day for the average woman and 16 for men. And not all of those cups have to come from plain water.” Water can be boring but that is where you really need to find a drink that doesn’t have all the added sugars, artificial colors, and bad ingredients you see in most drinks and sodas on the shelves.
An example of a health drink option is a REZ. REZ is an all-natural, plant-based, functional beverage with 100 mg of turmeric and 100 mg of glucosamine. It has 0 sugar, only 10 calories, and 1 carb. REZ has more electrolytes, vitamins, and minerals than any other drink on the market making REZ a great, hydrating, beverage choice. REZ is also a great kids hydration drink, a keto hydration drink, and great for the beach body diet.
But it’s best to stay away from sugar-sweetened beverages when trying to stay hydrated as Sugar is one of the WORST things you can put in your body.
It is essential to have active hydration to replenish your body before and after working out, and extra important in this heat. The Baseball player, as mentioned before, who was throwing up on the field from the heat exhaustion could have avoided this by properly hydrating. Non-sugary sports drinks, like REZ, are the best for hydration.
When choosing your drink choose carefully, choose REZ.
